How & Why I Started:
I was 40 years old, 5 feet tall, and 200 pounds. My twin sister was already on insulin for diabetes. I had always been the athletic one—softball and soccer in high school and intramurals in college. Now, I was sick of being fat. Sick of reading labels. Sick of counting calories. Sick of supplements. I wanted simple. I started out grain-free before I stumbled over the paleo community. Never. Looked. Back.
Along with a simple diet came simple exercise—heavy things and running. I left my career as a computer programmer and certified as a personal trainer, so I could live in my body instead of at a desk. I realize not all of us have that opportunity, which is why I want to help transition urban workers into playground kids for at least part of the day.
I have family with osteoporosis, arthritis, and diabetes, so I have a special interest in these populations—not to mention a special interest in FUN! I spend two hours a day at recess with elementary school kids and gain great insight from watching them play.
My specialization in Therapeutic Exercise includes a background in cardiovascular nutrition. I’ll guide you toward more healthful meals based on what you like, as well as what your doctor and current research suggests.
My Message to You:
I’m an ACE- and AFAA-Certified Personal Trainer with specialties in Therapeutic and Orthopedic Exercise. Paleo is more than a diet. It’s a lifestyle. For me, it’s not about living like ancient man but living like the kid in you never grew up. Eat until you’re full. Play. Repeat. Are you ready? Come play with me!
