A little bit about me:
I am a registered nurse and certified nutritional therapist. I specialize in helping people to discover and correct underlying imbalances in the body that lead to symptoms of disease and poor health. I have a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) from the Ohio State University and a master of science in nursing and healthcare administration (MS) from the University of Michigan. My certification as a nutritional therapist is through the Nutritional Therapy Association. After practicing for several years within the conventional allopathic health care system, my own health struggles with autoimmune disease led me to discover the Paleo lifestyle. By following a Paleo template and practicing various ancestral health principles, I was able to put my autoimmune disease into remission without conventional medications and achieve better health than I ever thought possible! I am now very passionate about educating others about the healing power of real food. I offer nutritional therapy and holistic health coaching for individuals who suffer with autoimmune disease, digestive disorders, and other health conditions, need help in cutting out processed foods or specific allergens, such as gluten, dairy, soy, corn, eggs, or nuts, want to lose weight and feel great, or just need ideas on how to incorporate nourishing foods into their lifestyle.
A whole food, nutrient dense diet is the foundation to optimal health. The Paleo lifestyle serves as a template for good nutrition because it is based on real foods that nourish the body and it eliminates foods and substances that lead to inflammation and damage, foods that are difficult to digest, and those that are common sensitivities. However, the Paleo template often needs to be customized to fit the needs of a particular individual by adjusting macronutrient ratios (the amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats), further eliminating foods that can’t be tolerated, or adding extra nutrients to correct specific deficiencies. The body has an innate ability to heal itself if given the proper tools to do so. It is my job to help discover the underlying nutritional and lifestyle factors that lead to imbalances in the body and arm you with the tools necessary to restore wellness and vitality.
