A little bit about me:

I have always been interested in health and psychology. I was a personal trainer for 7 years, and while I enjoyed it, I felt that the psychological component was lacking to be able to really help people flourish. Wellness coaching allows me to work on the physical, psychological, and physiological aspects to health and wellness.

I have experienced both the physical and psychological health benefits that come with eating a Primal Diet. I went a lower-carb version of Primal nearly two years ago due to health reasons. I was diagnosed with PCOS, adrenal fatigue, pre pre-diabetes,low blood sugar, vertigo, and was suffering from migraines, a severe lack of motivation and a pessimistic outlook on life. I had not had a period for nearly 2 years and told that I would not be able to have children and that IVF was not an option as I was not ovulating. 3 months in to a lower-carb Primal lifestyle and proper supplementation, I began having a regular period again. While I am still a work in progress, my energy levels are much higher, my blood sugar levels are normal, I can roll over in bed without the room spinning, and get only one or two migraines per year. Not only have the physical changes been dramatic, but so too has my mindset. It is surprising just how much my mental health has turned around. I am much more positive and optimistic and am seeing the good in most situations instead of automatically thinking negatively.

My father is a major reason I got started in this field. He was severely depressed and had a gambling addiction. Both of which got the better of him. It was heartbreaking to see and to experience. My dad and people like him are my reason for becoming a Wellness Coach. I want people to flourish and to have an excellent quality of life. To be confident, happy, loved, and experience all that life has to offer. I want people to be able to cope when hard times come, and I want them to persist and to thrive. These desires push and motivate me.

My Philosophy:

The physical benefits of living a healthy lifestyle are well known. While these aspects are important to understand, the many psychological benefits must also be considered. The way we move, the foods we eat, and our sleeping patterns all influence our mood and mental health. Numerous studies have demonstrated that a healthy way of life can vastly improve psychological wellbeing. Four of the major psychological benefits include: decreased mental illness, an increased ability to cope, increased self-esteem, and improved cognitive function. If these areas can be improved, it is highly likely that people will also have better physical health because they will be less stressed, making better health decisions, and relying on food less to cope with emotional pain.

The body and mind interact in a bidirectional relationship and impact one another enormously. If the body is not functioning properly, it can lead to mental health issues, including depression and anxiety. Conversely, if the mind is not operating optimally, it can impact physical health. I look at both aspects to assist my clients in becoming the best version of themselves through education, support, and assistance with the healthy behavior skills that foster wellness and lifelong healthy habits.
