A little bit about me:
As a Licensed Acupuncturist and practitioner of integrative medicine. I believe my own experience with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) led me down Eastern and Western medicine paths ultimately to synthesize the best of both worlds.
I was introduced to nutrition, psychology, Eastern spirituality, and the Chinese language as an undergraduate at Cornell University. After graduating, I lived in Taiwan and studied Mandarin. In Taipei, I received my first introduction to Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I soon came to revere this intelligent medical model seeking to correct the underlying causes of symptoms.
In 1990, I began graduate studies in Chinese medicine. By 1993, I received a Master’s Degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and my license to practice Acupuncture. I have complemented my Acupuncture practice with intensive training in Functional Medicine, Autoimmunity and Nutrigenomics. Based on cutting-edge science, Functional Medicine offers a new way to understand and treat chronic disease and Nutrigenomics is the science of how food speaks to your genes.
The Functional Medicine paradigm seeks to treat the root cause of chronic diseases rather than just suppressing symptoms. In this model, similar to Chinese Medicine, the core concept is that chronic illness is an outcome of imbalances in the key underlying physiological systems in the body. By treating the underlying imbalances, the symptoms resolve and the disease progression may be stopped.
As a Licensed Acupuncturist in modern times, I order lab tests to obtain necessary and objective test results like autoantibodies, gene type, gluten sensitivity, SIBO and gastrointestinal pathogens.
The combination of personalized diet therapy along with treating the root, has contributed to a marked decrease in autoimmune reactions and greater health for all of my patients.
I have seen great results in treating autoimmune disease using The Paleo Autoimmune Protocol plus Nutrigenomics, Functional Medicine and natural medicine protocols for immune modulation.
The combination of personalized diet therapy along with treating the root, has contributed to a marked decrease in autoimmune reactions and greater health for all of my patients. My hope is to get this information out so that others can understand and treat the underlying causes of their “chronic symptoms” and experience greater health sooner than later.
