Have you ever heard of kefir? What about MCT oil? Mira and Jayson Calton are nutritionists and the authors of “Naked Calories,” and they say these two foods can be powerful tools to help you slim down and get healthier.

Kefir is a yogurt drink popular in the Middle East that’s starting to gain esteem in the United States. A source of calcium, protein, and phosphorus, kefir was found to help people to stay thinner longer in a study described in a 2011 New England Journal of Medicine article.

Craving carbs? Mira and Jayson suggest baking with coconut flour. “It’s lower in carbohydrates than regular wheat flour,” Mira says. “And it has something called lauric acid, which is great for raising the good cholesterol.”
